John L.O’Brien III Memorial Road Race

This race is not hosted by the Shamrock Running club. The O'Brien Committee would like to thank them for allowing us to post our race information on there Web servers.

John was a 1980 graduate from Woburn High School. He continued on graduating from Harvard University and Harvard Business School. He excelled in Football and Track. After graduating from Harvard with a BA in economics John went to Rome, Italy where he coached professional football. After graduating from Business School he started a career in sports management where he met his future wife. John married, and started his own sports marketing firm at Hill, Holiday, Connors & Cosmopoulos advertising. John and Julie then moved to Chadds Ford, PA with their three sons, John IV, Cole and Bennett. He continued his career as vice president of Affinity Marketing at First USA Bank for two years. John then became executive vice president of Z-University Inc.com; a web based Start-up Company. In addition to business ventures, John made extra efforts to make his community a better place. He was a board member of the Harvard Varsity Club, began a successful fund raising program for the Woburn Tanners Football Team, volunteered as an assistant football coach at Tatnall School and was planning a colon cancer research fund raising program. John was a successful man with a big heart, please join us in recognizing him in this memorial run.

Location: Towanda Club, 19 Abbott St., Woburn, Ma. (Located directly across from the Middlesex Court House)

Runners will be running a 5 Mile course starting at 11am
Walkers will begin a 3 mile health walk beginning 10am

Course: A challenging, wheel measured 5 mile course starting and finishing at the Towanda Club in Downtown Woburn. Course is through the city streets of Woburn and around picturesque Horn Pond, the gem of Woburn’s landscape. Walkers will circle around Horn Pond return to Towanda Club. Course Map

Registration: 1st 200 receive a short sleeve T-shirt- Post Race Activities: Awards ceremony, raffles, food, refreshments and DJ....
